The Victor and Cripple Creek region was the second biggest producer of gold in U.S. history. There are still mines galore out here and many of the structures are still standing.
I put up two videos on YouTube, the abandoned Miners Cabins and Abandoned Mines. These are just a few of the over 500 mines in the area. More to come soon.

There are tons of mines near where you live. I recommend the Big Horn if you're ever in the Wrightwood area. It's huge, and most parts are safe. A lot of people go in there, biggest in the San Gabriels. If you're ever in the San Diego area I'd recommend checking out the Eagle Mine, they give tours. That's in the town of Julian up in the mountains. It's only $15 to take the tour, and there are other mines you can explore by yourself all around the town.
