Lawlor Lollipop & Wilson Ice Cream

On Sunday Cecelia and I hiked to Mt. Lawlor. We didn't see anyone else on Lawlor, but there was a group on Strawberry.
It was a nice, cool morning with excellent views. We made good time going up, starting from Redbox and following the main trail which contours around the west flank of Lawlor to the saddle with Strawberry.
Here we drank some water, before taking the Lawlor trail up the northwest ridge. The path is rough and a bit overgrown, but for light scrambling it's a pleasing class 2 blend of steep and rocky.
The summit isn't much to write home about. There are some old posts, and on a clear day it offers great views of the Mt. Wilson area.
On the east side of the summit, a small oak tree provided enough shade for a rest spot where we ate lunch. A little breeze felt good too.
Cecelia hunted for a benchmark but didn't find one.
After lunch we decided to brave going down the southside firebreak. Much of the route required scree skiing sideways, and there is one stretch where most people will need to butt slide. Definitely difficult.
After that we rewarded ourselves with ice cream at the Cosmic Cafe and an easy stroll around Mt. Wilson.
