We found this interesting scene on Wright Mountain, one tree had fallen into another tree, leaving huge scars in the bark of the still-standing tree.

I hadn't considered that possibility, but now that you mention it Squatch probably knocked over the tree to disguise his claw markings as scars from the downed tree. Clever beast!
