PINYON RIDGE

Hiked with my Wednesday crew above Jackson Lake area. We went up to Pinyon Ridge, then Blue Ridge with a final descent from Kasten's Point on a very slippery, steep ridge, cross country back to our cars. This was a loop hike that consisted of maintained trails, fire roads, and a portion of the PCT. I found three benchmarks along the way. The register was intact, but I didn't check out the PR benchmarks that I found on a previous hike because they were not at the high point.
The fire fighters did an awesome job saving Pinyon Ridge. There were huge amounts of fire retardant by Fenner's Saddle on rocks and trees that made the leaves look a pretty pink. Strangely, the bench was spared at the saddle nearby burnt trees. Nevertheless, being surrounded by vibrant fall colors the entire day was breathtaking.
I will post pics from the Bobcat fire in a different post.
Stats: 10 miles, 2500' gain.
