Throop Peak

After a scorching hike to Black Mountain in the San Jacinto Mountains on the previous weekend, I thought it would be nice to do a relatively cooler hike the Angeles High Country. I settled on hiking from Dawson Saddle to Throop Peak, which I've bagged before. However, this time I continued south west on the PCT to the Hawkins Ridge Trail junction. I had never hiked that small section of the PCT before, but I'm glad I made the effort to check it out because it's one of the most scenic sections of the PCT in the Angeles, up there with Blue Ridge and Upper Lytle Creek Ridge. I had never seen so many cars parked at Dawson Saddle, but thankfully the trail wasn't too busy. This lockdown has really transformed the forest though. Next time I come back to this area it'll be to hike Copter Ridge. It looks awesome.
