arriving at the Trailhead after school at 3:30 on friday 9-12-08, made it up to the waterfalls in an hour. Camped 100 meters away from them. it was a warm night. probably 55* at the coldest. In the morning we hiked up toward commanche to the upper set of waterfalls. nice little 24 hr trip.

That looks great, I'm all over that.

Are fires legal there? They sure aren't a little further up in the Cucamonga Wilderness.

I did not know that those falls would still have water this late in the year. Thanks for posting!

Nice, o so nice! What sort of road are we talking about here? I'm driving a new car to me, an Audi A3: think I could make it without "engaging" my chassis?

That dirt road is a little rough. We had to pull over my friend's Audi A2 and park it well before the trailhead 'cause the road was too rough which added some boring road miles to our trek up to Commanche. My friend's Audi has less clearance than a standard passenger car. A standard passenger car should be good to go unless the road has really deteriorated since I was there in the fall.

Cool pix, Mr. Dudley.

Is that the same road you take to get to the Lytle Creek Shooting Range? My god, that's a horrible road.

The turnoff for the Middle Fork is waay before the range. It's really close to the Ranger station.

But, it does then turn to dirt/rocks.

Here's the TH back in January

My truck couldn't make it up the last couple of hundred yards to the TH due to ice in January. But, this little Honda made it just as far as I did. (it had the frontend damage before the road, I saw it down below earlier)

What's the best route to the Middle Fork off of highway 15? Lytle Creek or Applewhite?
