You've all probably got these sites bookmarked already, and I'm too lazy to check if this topic's been done, but here goes..

www.steepandcheap.com - climbing, hiking, mountaineering, camping. Everything from clothing and footwear to packs and tents. There's been Arc'teryx stuff on there lately.

www.chainlove.com - MTB stuff. Jerseys, gloves, frames, tubes, helmets, etc.

www.tramdock.com - ski/snowboard gear. Planks, boards, clothing, helmets, boots...

www.whiskeymilitia.com - more of the "action sports" culture wear, mostly clothing and accessories for the X-games set.

www.brociety.com - snowboarding related deals.

www.bonktown.com - like chainlove but for road/tri bike gear

The stores above are all run by backcountry.com to dump their overstock/last-season gear. Not true deal-a-day, as they put up a new item as soon as one sells out. Even better!

www.sierratradingpost.com/barnburners/ - STP's deal of the day.

www.orsdirect.com - main page has a daily deal, usually camping/hiking/outdoors related.

www.outdoordaily.com - self-explanatory.

www.vcrux.com/dod.aspx - daily deal on climbing-related hardware and softgoods. sometimes a screaming deal, other times i've seen the same items available elsewhere for the same or cheaper (not factoring shipping). a bonus though is that they have a frequently updated climbing video embedded on the product page.

www.rei.com/outlet/deal-of-the-day - REI Outlet's DOD

http://www.mountaingear.com/dod/ - mountaingear's DOD

http://www.ems.com/rss/extreme.xml - eastern mtn sports DOD

http://www.altrec.com/dealoftheday/signup/static.htm - Altrec's DOD email sign up page, also has a link to the item.

http://www.98main.com/ - peterglenn.com's DOD branch. mostly ski/board related, some general outdoor apparel and equipment.

www.campsaver.com - DOD link is on the front page

www.tahoemountainsports.com - DOD link is on the front page

www.geartrade.com - looks like a big swapmeet of outdoor gear. Haven't gotten anything off of it yet, but it looks like there are some very good deals on new or lightly used gear.

This is a great list. I knew about some of these sites and some of them I didn't.

If you want something specific, you can also wait for sales or coupon codes from the major retailers. Most places will offer 20% off codes every once in awhile. Check fatwallet.com, retailmenot.com or just google coupons codes before buying. Altrec, Moosejaw, STP, REI and Campsaver often have coupons codes. Basegear, Backcountry, Campmor often just have sales or discounts. I try to never pay full price.

Don't forget rei outlet's deal of the day and deal of the week. Altrec also has a deal of the day.

Yeah, I was going to add those, but they don't have discreet links to their DotD pages. REI Outlet sometimes skips days, and they link directly to an item, not to a dedicated DotD. They do send email/RSS alerts though. Altrec does the same in regards to linking to an item from inventory, and their DotD link is to an email list signup.

Another site with a good selection of closeout items is backcountrygear.com

I just found out mountaingear.com has a DotD: http://www.mountaingear.com/dod/

Eastern Mountain Sports has an "Extreme Deal" type DotD - I'm not sure it's actually daily, though. Accessible through their Outlet page (again, no discreet DotD page, just a direct link to the item), the RSS link is here: http://www.ems.com/rss/extreme.xml

Moosejaw's deal of the day looks to be a "sign up for our email list" job, but they also list it on a blog page at the time of the deal's posting, 8AM PST I believe:

News flash - dailyclimber.com just got out of the the deal-a-day business, citing the slow economy.

Sorry to necropost but this is the site I use that tracks most of the 'Deal of the Day' sites on one page.

Just a note on geartrade.com this is another part of the Backcountry organization.

Look for the Backcountry user on the site. It is actually backcountry.com and associated websites, items ship out right away and normally get to me within 2 days. Like REI used gear sale but: less of a mad house, you have time to research before you grab something, you can ask questions on the condition and the answers are binding (grounds for return if not correct)

I've had 2 or 3 out of 42 orders that I've return and had no issue. Keep in mind backcountry lowers their prices the longer an item stays up. Watch out for discontinued items sometimes specials on their direct site will be a better deal or a negligible diff. then go for the full return guaranty.

Buying from other users has been ok, the money is at least held until after delivery so if there's any issue it's possible to negotiate a discount or return.

I haven't sold anything on the site mostly because I'm a gear whore. When I try to justify it I say I can share it with partners if they're missing something.
