So 5 years ago I put up this thread viewtopic.php?f=9&t=4986&p=43069&hilit=wilson#p43069 well I finally did it hahah. Saturday I left Sierra Madre about 7 and arrived at top at 1015. Not bad for a husky fella. It was a beautiful day and the trail wasn't too crowded. Glad I finally got that done. That mile or so after Orchard camp going up was tough and kinda zapped me so the last mile or so going out was tough. My legs were done. I do better up hill then down.

Good job! That was the trail I started on. Was there any water in that final crossing before Manzanita Bench?

Im not sure. Is it about half way between Orchard and the bench? I think I remember crossing very small stream of water.

Yes, that's it. There is a big rock at the crossing.

I’ve gone up that route a couple of times, I think the downhill is harder than going up. Feels never-ending.
