Do you guys have any recommendations for a good visual guide (book or website) that shows and describes the flora and fauna of the San Gabriel Mountains? I want to familiarize myself with all of the things that I've been coming across (and might come across).

I've seen a couple websites, but they're either incomplete or difficult to use.

I also came across this CD-ROM, but I don't have a CD player anymore...

There is an app for that CD content. I found a link to it on website for the CD ROM, oh, and you can buy the CD for half of what the Amazon sellers are asking.

For birds I like this one

An Introduction to Southern California Birds

Because it is limited to So Cal, it is feasible to flip through the whole thing to match up whatever you've seen with a photo. Looks like it's out of print but availability is decent.

I like California Herps for amphibians and reptiles.
