Snowshoe to Little Jimmy CG via fire road 2/6/16

After breakfast at Newcomb's, we parked at Islip Saddle around 10:20. We saw 3 hikers starting up the PCT, but we walked along the closed 2 to the start of the fire road to Little Jimmy.

(this photo was taken when we returned. There were considerably fewer tracks when we started).
We donned snowshoes, which may not have been strictly necessary, but there were deep and powdery enough areas that they weren't unwelcome.
We were following a couple boot tracks from there to the crossing with the PCT, which looked like this.

It looked like the PCT hikers we had seen turned back at that point. The tracks on the fire road also stopped, and we were making the only tracks except for those from critters:

We reached Little Jimmy, where spot #7 was available.

We chose a table with somewhat less snow and made hot chocolate.

It was very quiet with the 2 closed. We didn't see any other humans until returning to the highway. We did hear a slightly disconcerting "Raarrrr" sound while in the campground.
There will be plenty left of snow left tomorrow. Crowds never got super crazy as far as we could tell, but recommend earlier rather than later if possible. There was no chain control today, but the signs to carry them were up and there were some icy spots.
