New Tree Species?

I think I discovered a new tree species while out and about in the San Gabes today. It had very unusual fruit. Anyone come across this before?

Perhaps related to Rock Maple Acer saccharum


Ricos Burned Rock Oak Ricoia Quercus saxum ssp. extermino

Ha! Good one Rambo, although Mad Maxon has clearly done more scientific research into this than either of us. :)

I also have a photo of this tree from March 2013! The blooms must last a geologically long time!
