Mt Islip loop

Sunday was a gorgeous day in the mountains, enough sun to be warm and enough breeze to not feel hot. We headed up Azusa CanĀ„on toward Crystal Lake and parked at the campground area. Not much to tell, this is a pretty common route for this area. We must have passed 50 Scouts on their way down after spending the night at Little Jimmy - I bet it was crowded there. Other than that, we only saw a handful of folks on the trail, in fact just one person on the way down the Big Cienega loop.
A few photos:
Low on the trail looking at Windy Gap. It wasn't.
Still remnants of the Curve Fire in 2002. I'm an old man, this won't come back in my lifetime.
Almost to Windy Gap, the last switchback goes out forever.
The previous sign said 0.8 miles, how did we get further out?
Getting close when the graffiti comes into view.
Halloween decorations at the summit. No register in sight now.
