Chapman Trail Cedar Glen report
Posted: Sun Oct 19, 2014 10:22 am
We hiked the Chapman Trail Saturday. The creek just before Cedar Glen was dry underfoot. There was a small trickle of water upstream under the bushes. It should be barely enough if you need water there. The trail just past Cedar Glen is toast. There is a huge washout so wide that you cannot see across it to see where the trail continues. Two false use trails go leftward uphill. Avoid them. Instead, go rightward, stay low, and watch for cairns to guide you through the maze. Further on, there are three more major gullies, but you can see across them to where the trail is intact. The worst is at Telegraph Wash where the gully is head high with near vertical walls.
I have always liked this view of Sugarloaf and Sunset Peaks.
The last of fall color in Icehouse Canyon.
Does anyone know what this small, spiky flower is?
