Has anyone ever done the ridge just west of Dear Canyon to Cucamonga?
You start at the top of Haven Ave, hike all the way up the the truck road, then head straight up the slope where it meets the ridge.

My brother and I made it up the slope, got to the ridge, and had to hunker down for a while due to a whiteout and heavy snow. (poor wx planning on that one)

The trip total is 6,059 ft. gain in 4.5 miles.

It is on my top 3 to do's as soon as winter hits us.

I already know about the smith ridge route. This one is unnamed, as far as I know (which isn't very far) and it is directly west of Dear Canyon

It's been talked about on here but I think among us only Rick Graham has done it. I've been meaning to do it--just too hot right now. I was planning to stay more on the west ridge, rather than go up Deer Canyon proper. There's a SummitPost page for it: http://www.summitpost.org/route/159562/deer-canyon.html
