I had some plans for this day in the Big Tujunga, but forgot to bring a crucial item...so....why not check out the Great Falls of the Fox for the umpteenth time? After spotting the usual suspect waterfalls on this trip, I went for MtSly, elevation 3154. The mapper says this imposing 8) peak is about 154ft above the trail....but lets throw in an extra 40 ft since theres a little up and down getting there. ..ok maybe an extra 20. After this thoroughly exhausting climb(it is steep actually), I was elated to conquer the northern side of the Big Tujunga river...except everything around me was higher? Not only that, there was no new significant view added different from the trail except the summit marker. No doubt someone stole the register also  I refitted a pole into the ground that was part of the summit, but didnt have a pirate flag to fly on it. At least travellers will know where the summit is. until it blows over again. After finishing making a mockery out of peak bagging, which will serve as an excuse for not to be banned from NHPS, I headed back.

Not raining in the Big Tujunga canyon

Fall season here as I plod toward the wily MtSly.

The second falls in lower Fall Creek as it rushes to the river

Classic canyon falls zoomed in from the northern side of the river...drainage still overgrown IMO.
Image

Great Falls of the Fox at elevation 2900(about 400ft lower than the fireroad)....err, this is significantly off-trail and steepy.

Zoomed in, the main falls(rappel#5) and the next drop.

Even closer zoom...

The other suspect falls to see in these parts, significantly off-trail

canyon travel

Not the trail to travel if you like leave no trace.....I have no idea what this is, but probably something to do with the electricity transmission wires all around.

Sly - 1945(I think someone etched something of their own on the marker, underneath US Dept of Agriculture)

Not quite sure why you feel obligated to climb peaks. ;)

You do manage to see cool stuff and thanks for sharing the pics.

Props for posting a TR :)
