Baldy evening

Once again I went up Baldy on Friday night, via Devil's Backbone both ways, followed by a good dinner at the Notch. I was with a group of people that had never been to the summit and somehow ended up leading the way (I seldom do that). I tried to keep the pace slow enough so everyone could keep up, with plenty of breathing breaks (photo opportunities). Hit the backbone at 6:40pm, we still made the summit in just over an hour from there. Was nice since there was wine, cheese, crackers, salami and beer at the top. After a couple beers and the sun going down it was time to head back, and the half moon put out plenty of light to see the trail. I like walking in that subdued light, just a little closer to nature...
Rode down on the lift in some very pleasant weather so it was a pretty good end to my week with auditors at work.

Shin sighting for those of you who know him, summit number 283.

A couple of these at 10K are interesting. But free beer = good.

Half moon to light the way down. Grainy due to automatic setting on iPhone.

I would not want to do any hiking after pounding down a few at 10K feet. It's a long fall from the Backbone to Mankers. Nice pictures.

By the way, I like Torpedo!

Splendid sunset time atop Baldy!

Is there any other kind?

I see that Pavel was there, too. As usual, heh.

What an introduction for your newcomer friends to experience.

kind regards,

The extra is 7.2% alcohol. Yes, a couple will make you watch your steps along the backbone. Actually to me the worst part is the side ridge of gravel just west of the backbone section.

He was talking about bringing up a keg for the Run To The Top over Labor Day weekend. That sounds fun....well the beer part at least.
