We hiked up to Kellys Camp today, 7/21. There is still water coming from the spring. It took 2 minutes to fill a 24 oz. bottle.

There is a nice view of Telegraph Peak from this trail.

This clown bird was looking for a drink or a handout at Columbine Spring.

Wow. That's really low flow. Aren't there two pipes? Was the other pipe equally slow?

I'm glad to see a little water, makes it easier to plan a summer visit. Thanks for checking/reporting.

At one time, there were two pipes. Unfortunately, a large tree fell over one of them during the winter of 2010-11. That pipe never produced much anyway. Then the other pipe dried up to a drip. Rangers constructed a new spring box for it last year. It now flows OK depending on the kind of snow year we have. Since this was a low snow year, there is not much water left. How much longer there will be any water at all is anybody's guess.

OK, so when they replaced the spring box, they only replaced one of the pipes, is that right?

That is correct. The other pipe was under a downed tree.
