Icehouse Canyon notes

We missed 6 weeks of hiking due to crap at the house. (Anything that is not hiking is pretty much crap.) At any rate, we needed a couple of trips up to the Icehouse Saddle to get back in shape for longer stuff. I have never seen the trail so crowded. We were virtually never out of sight of someone else. It didn't help that the Clover Hiking Club was bringing them in by the bus load. I took a few pictures.

This chipmonk chirped away at the two dozen hikers assembled at the Saddle.

Then, the snakes were out.

Here, here, although car camping isn't so bad. :)

Those are some good-sized snakes....
Maybe I'm just not very observant, but I've only seen one rattler up there. It was a couple years ago while I was standing/daydreaming on the trail just above Columbine Spring. He slithered across right next to me and into the bushes.
