Did this on Saturday with 9 folks total.

I guess this is Baldy peaking out behind Monrovia and Rankin Peaks:

Ooh color!

My altimeter gave me 3100 ft total gain, seems to be pretty close. And had 9500 steps up and 10500 steps down, so between 8-9 miles.

I mean it was hot, high temps, but luckily the first 3 miles of the hike up have a good amount of shade (west side of ridge) and I wasn't trying to blaze up, so didn't feel it at all. Doing the old Mt Wilson trail (other side of ridge) would be hotter.

I know a lot of people hate the heat, I kinda like it, as long as I bring enough water!

Nice hike, considering the temps were up there. "hiker bob" made a point of telling me that "his" trail was better than the mt. wilson trail because it was in the shade!

Those numbers pretty much agree with what I have measured on that hike - 8.5 miles, 3000'+ elevation gain. Trail head is at 1100' and the peak is at 4038' according to my gps (and the maps) so including the little ups and downs along the ridge I figure 3000' plus a little bit. I've been up there about 10 times and the measurements are pretty consistent.
