This is a fun, easy canyon with good anchors and no outstanding objective dangers. It's a good place to take new canyoneers led by competent and experience canyoneers. My friend Patty and I went there today. She has advanced beyond this canyon, so we were able to cover basics more thoroughly as a result.

The anchors are all in excellent condition. The 80ft falls (the big one) are more like 100ft, as our 200ft rope double-stranded was literally just long enough to reach the bottom. There is a slabby section of rock before reaching the bottom that would have allowed me to reach safer ground in case of emergency, such as if the rope was not long enough.

Very low water flow, with some pools that were ankle-deep.

All in all, a fun day. This is my second time down this canyon.

Under the pancake rock in the shade. TONS of bees. Rather hot out.

This was my first canyoneering trip in the San Gabriels. Lots of fun. Did you find an old homeless shelter above the drop in?

Rocklimber, up. I always try to sneak by quietly.

HikeUp, that's what I thought.

HIGHLY likely, HikeUp. (Could be a raven, too.) WNV is hot this year: WNV in California
