Great day Mark, thank you for the company.

A year ago I did Iron Mountain in May and it snowed, it snowed a lot.

Yesterday it was comfortably cool the entire way, even in the sun, but I predict it will be too hot for Iron very soon.

We tried to photograph the Amgen race but it just wasn't happening. To much haze and too far to see what it was I was shooting.

Nice work, guys!
How's good ol' SA Ridge looking? It's getting to be that time again.

Dave,

The ridge was clear of snow until almost the summit of west Baldy. I will look for photos when I get home tonight.
Each time I summit Iron the traverse to Baldy looks a little more doable.

On the way up Iron, Mark and I talked about how we could leave a car at Manker at 2 or 3 am one night soon and do Baldy from Heaton Flats. Mark would be the perfect companion, since He hikes at night so much.
After finishing Iron we were not so hot on the idea, it is such a long hike it takes some time to think about going back up.

Looks like that plan B worked out great, Mark. We'll have to get in the snow next time.

I guess we can see the "snow conditions" (or lack thereof).

I believe Mark took that picture for the exact reason you mention...to show the snow conditions.
I think it was ice that fell from the tips of pine needles during the recent rain or a morning dew, there were two patches and only beside trees and not a snowflake anywhere else. It was almost the consistancy of shaved ice. Next time up I am bringing some little cups and cherry flavored syrup.
