Mt. Wilson Trail, 5-8-2011

There seems to be less trip reports of late, so here's my submission of a simple one on a well trekked trail. I started on Mira Monte around 10 am, reached the summit at a little past 1, scarfed down a delicious chili dog at the Cosmic Cafe, then headed back. It was quite chilly at the summit, what with the marine layer covering everything and all, so I didn't linger long at the top.
I didn't get a picture of it, but I encountered what appeared to be a bear on the trail, approximately 20 minutes after leaving Orchard Camp. I saw a big ass mass of fur in front, which then scurried down the slope. I assume it wasn't a deer because deer ass is more elegant.
A few sample pictures below.
A ringwraith is hiding in there somewhere.

Saw this sign at the paved section of the Mt. Wilson Road.

Best $5.25 I ever spent.

View of the Mt. Wilson parking lot. The L.A. basin is nicely shrouded, Kubrick-like.

The fog didn't follow me down.

The sun can paint the hillside when it feels like it.
