It used to be SAR (Search and Rescue) now it's ZAT (Zach and Taco) or more correctly ZAR (Zach and Ryan) :D

Nice climbing guys, that's twice this week, you guys are making the best of it all over Southern Cal.

Hope I get a chance to join you soon.
Great pictures

Thanks for a great day guys! ZAR are (is?) great climbers and coached me so I was able to climb some tougher stuff than before.

It was very nice to have the climbing area ("Stumbling Blocks") all to ourselves. Last time I was there, it was a Saturday and it was a zoo. It was shady, and cool with a nice breeze.

Only downside was the human waste, which really was a bit excessive.... :x

This place would be perfect a day or two after the first big rain storm in the fall! FLUSH!

Oh yeah - Zach catching the end of the rope like a NINJA when it fell was AWESOME. 8)

My 2 cents about this climbing area is as follows: I love the easy approach. I really like the little not-so-deep water free solo traverse to get to the final climbing area. The shade and breeze was 10/10. There was literally a pile of human feces on the ledge of that 10a. Besides that, the climbing was sweet. Lots of hueco, small finger pockets and unlike some climbs where the route is rated by its hardest move, these ones seemed to have sustained climbing at the rating given to the route. Made for some pumpy climbing  I loved it. Time for a nice week of relaxation and then we're headed to the alpine for some TRAD!! w00t

PS: Sharky's next to the park was amazing. I drank me a Corona

I work about 15 minutes from Malibu Creek and never checked it out -- for some reason I thought it was a picnic / car camping park -- completely forgot it's got some rock in there. Good stuff! Minus the 5.10 port-a-potty :D

dang! shows you how out of it i have been. i just saw this post. :( except for the crappy (pun intended) land mine looks like you three had a good day. cool! that wall affectionately called Ape Wall is where i learned to climb back in the day (that would be the 90's.) the Grotto (dis)affectionately called the Ghetto has a cool approach as long as you don't fall in the water with your gear. extra points for staying dry!

ZAT and Johanna, i should be back to raising hell in two weeks. let me know if you want to swing out my way again. :)

I spent 2 days at Malibu Creek State Park whike following the Tour of CA in May. It was my first time there and I found it a beautiful place. The CG was typical State Park style, crammed and crowded and loud. But, it did overlook a beautiful valley and sunset over the rocks was great with a cold beer and some grilled chikin.
I got a couple of MTB rides in and I definetly want to go back.
PS. Where is that restaurant?

Yeah, Sharky's seems to have a good review there.
I wonder how slow someone would be going in ludicrous mode?
I also like that backpak quip.

Sharky's kicked ass. I don't recall where it was, sorry. Very tired at the moment.

there is a Sharkey's on the SW corner of Westlake Boulevard and Thousand Oaks Boulevard in Westlake Village, but you probably headed east from Malibu Creek and went to the one on Reseda Boulevard just south of the 101 freeway.
