So about two years ago I offered to develop an Ice Pirates logo for Taco (I was a graphic designer in my distant youth). Two years went by without much happening, when suddenly a month ago I experienced a burst of creative vigor and started grinding out designs based loosely on a Jolly Roger figure with ice tools.

Once I discovered the term "Ice Pirates" is closely associated in the hivemind with a cheesy scifi movie from that distant time when I was a graphic designer, I thought to myself, "This will not do," and settled on a Teutonic replacement that has a more Alpine ring to it: Eispiraten.

There's a website and everything (click it and see what happens).

I know Taco is thinking about turning this forum into some kind of more general site for SoCal mountaineering, and should that effort move further along there is already a domain (several, in fact) up and waiting. But in the meantime, we have STICKERS!

So anyone who sends me a street address will receive all the stickers he or she can eat, free of charge.

Now, I would never, ever suggest that people liberally plaster these stickers on public or private property without authorization; that would be vandalism. But what I personally often do with stickers is leave stacks of them in bars and coffee houses. By chance, they magically find their own way onto nearby walls, street signs, windows, etc. Handing them out to schoolchildren works wonders, as well.

So send your mailing address to stickers@badharvest.net .

Variations on the final design, as well as abortive gropings towards perfection, can be see at this link.

Stickers are cheap. The can be given away by the hundreds. Tee-shirts, on the other hand, cost real money. So do embroidered patches. If there is enough interest and firm commitment, I can get shirts made. But a minimum order is 124 shirts.

In my business, we hand out logo stickers at every opportunity. One is included in every product package, for example. Tracie got a few with the Eispiraten stickers.

My office is here in the barrio, and every few weeks these two little Mexican kids, maybe 10 years old, come round begging for stickers. We give them all they want. I suspect they take them to school and sell them to the other kids. Very enterprising; they will go far.

During the last two weeks they have been back TWICE because now I give them Eispiraten stickers too. They are into the skulls.

I don't give them Bad Harvest stickers because that site is not appropriate for children.

Nice!

We need some non-skull ones. Skulls are all hip and shit these days with the dang hipster kids and their silly hats and no-bathing and whatnot.

I know, nice to say this now, since I kinda drew the design up initially and whatnot. Mebbe we can have some SGMDF one that's kinda basic?

Dudes and dudettes:

We might bring a lot more traffic to this site by taking Eispiraten stickers on climbs and leaving piles of them in summit registers.

Just an idea.

Taco likes things that are off the the wall - Thus the TACO Del Rio (it's a taco stand by his house)

Bad Ass Ham is something David Letterman used to remark about when someone would "win" something - I see you "won a Bad Ass Ham" something like that - check "You Tube" it might be on there. :?:   :D

Big ass ham, not bad ass ham. Can't be badass if you got slaughtered and your leg is offered in stores.

He might be bad ass -- if you're eating the butcher's leg.
