Sheep Canyon and some Rappelling, May 9 2010
Posted: Sun May 09, 2010 10:23 pm
My buddy Johnny wanted to do some rappelling and hiking and whatnot, so off we set for Ricehouse. Sheep Cyn had about 6ft of snow or more in some areas in it. Lots of running water from all the snow atop Ontario.
Set up a basic rapp station near Waterslide off Barrett-Stoddard. Then rapped off the bridge on that road, which was kinda cool for teaching controlling transitions to free rappels. The normal rappel into Waterslide wasn't feasible, since there is still a huge amount of water down there. One would probably have to swim out, which is cool, but not on a cool cloudy day with my new car with nice clean seats.

Using a biner for leverage. Aids in faster raps with double ropes. Note that Reverso is "backwards" in these two pics. This works well to move a little more quickly down twin/double strands.
