Friday Morning 1/22 Baldy area Snowshoe Trek?
Posted: Wed Jan 20, 2010 2:28 pm
I'm thinking of a quick snowshoe trek Friday morning from the Icehouse or Manker parking lot. I would like finish up by about 12:30. Anyone interested? I could arrive any time from dawn onwards.
I've only hiked once up Icehouse Cyn- last month my kids and I went up a mile or so. It looked like routefinding and avalanche potential would be managable for a short morning hike, but I would sure appreciate going with someone who has local knowledge.
I'd be happy to carpool from anywhere between Long Beach and the base of the mountain. Have Subaru, have chains, will travel!
Since this is only my second post here, a little background:
44 years old, decent condition. I live in Long Beach.
Grew up in the Eastern Sierra and have good snow travel skills (snowshoeing, xc, alpine, AT skiing, winter backpacking, route finding etc.)
That said I haven't been out much in the winter for about 10 years (I have a 9 year old daughter and 6 year old son which put the brakes on adventure for a few years.)
If anyone is interested please post here or email me JimQPublic ---at-- gmail --dot-- com
