We saw two hunters on the backside of Mount San Jacinto, one hiker actually heard them shooting but it was so windy the rest of us missed it Saturday.

Does anyone know where they are allowed versus where they are not allowed? It would be nice to know, and when will it be over? :?
Thanks

The timetables for hunting season are buried in the Fish and Game website http://www.dfg.ca.gov/ , but you may need a lawyer to help interpret them. It might be easier to ask at a Turner's Outdoorsman store. I used to work with some guys who were big time hunters. I think the hunting season is generally August to October, but there are variations between areas.

Richard, you used to work at Turner's?

I'm afraid to ask which one.

No, I never worked at Turners. The guys who were big on hunting were, like me, computer programmers. They talked about Turners a lot. I think Turners sold some sort of guide to the hunting season timetable or maybe it was a free handout supplied by DFG.

There was a guy hunting bear in Onion Valley when I was up there last weekend. I heard one report when I was midway up Independence Peak.
