With summer gone and our daylight cut short. How do you make the most of your winter hiking season? even the short hikes can seem long and epic now.
Whats your fav winter hike?
Any good winter hikes local that dont require snow shoes or ice gear?

We are not into ice and snow travel. So, we spend the winters in the Orange County parks: Chino Hills SP, Crystal Cove SP, and Laguna Coast Wilderness Park. For some reason, we have not hiked in the Santa Ana Mountains. A few weeks ago, we drove up Silverado Canyon to check out the trailhead and the old Silverado Motorway. I think we will do some hikes there later on.

My favorite winter hikes involve snow, but I'll list the classics with the family.
1. Cooper Canyon, to the falls, and up around to Snowcrest.
2. Lake Ave. to Inspiration Lookout. Echo Mtn. (always a shit load of people)
3. Sturtevant Area, little up and down loops.
Others...
4. Blackstar Canyon Road, up to the falls.
5. Crystal Cove area. Very fun on rainy days, endless mud sliding!
