San Gorgonio 7/4/09

I did a solo hike up San Gorgonio today! I went up South Fork, by way of Dry Lake, then made a lollipop, descending on the Dollar Lake side. It was about 23 miles, with 4,622 feet of elevation gain. Honestly, I didn't find it too challenging, considering this season I've done far more difficult hikes!
The trail was surprisingly quiet. On my ascent I saw only 4 other hikers. I did see more on my way down, but not nearly the throngs I'd expected. The weather was absolutely perfect. On Independence Day, I was truly celebrating the freedom of the mountains!
My entire trip, including a few short breaks and an hour at the summit took 8 hours and 20 minutes. Not bad for a walk in the woods.
