Big Horn Mine to Baden-Powell

Gonna head up Baden-Powell and Ross tomorrow, and I was if there would be some way to add in Big Horn Mine as well. Has anyone ever tried ascending Baden-Powell's east ridge from the mine?

You can descend the east ridge down towards Big Horn.
It will leave you short of the mine but still close.
I've gone up the ridge, never down but its very do-able and not all that hard either.
Once you're back on Baden-Powell after Ross you'll more than likely rethink the idea. Going down that ridge may be a bit taxing on tired legs.

I'll be on Baden-Powell maybe Sunday or Monday. Coming in from Islip or Dawson Saddle.

Happen to see any airplane wreckage as you descended to the summit of Ross Mtn?

There is one glider East of Baden Powell's Summit.

I have some information about a jet wreck from 1950's & possibly a helicopter

Might possibly be some bits/shards or other indications out on that ridge

I spotted a bit of wreckage on my trip from VGD to Heaton Flat, highly probably from a jet but no markings

Interesting about the glider I was told it was removed (salvaged)

Cheers
Matt

The head of Alder Gulch is on the ridge that takes you to Ross Mtn....

Thought perhaps one might see something along the ridge or down in the canyon.

I looked at Alder Gulch in Google Earth, and decided against a recreational "jaunt" to the area. The terrain looks pretty rough, and access to the area is via Baden-Powell, or descend down the riverbed at Vincent Gap. Both look like all day trips. I've posted a message on the wreckchasing board to see if anyone has more detailed info on the crash.

If you look closely at the picture I posted, you can read N6664.

I've hiked Ross 3 times over the years and have never seen any wreckage. It may very well be down one of the sides but definitely not on the main ridge.

From what I recall, the east side of the ridge is pretty steep!
