Did a training hike on the Zion Loop (counterclockwise) this morning. It was a beautiful day, for sure. Left Chantry at 6:55 am and returned at 10:25 am. Stopped and chatted with a scout trip leader at Spruce Grove and had some food on top of Mt. Zion. Overall, a good trip...

What are you training for?

San Jacinto Peak in June, Mt San Gorgonio in July... those are two or three night backpacks. Those two trips will total about 50 miles. In August, we will do a ~50 mile backpack out of Lodgepole in Sequoia NP, seven nights. Gonna' see Deadman Canyon. Will probably do Olancha Pass later this month, as well. Need to finalize the dates...

Hmmm... that could start another thread on everyone's summer backpack plans. Anybody up for that?

Launch it. Might give me some ideas! :D

Zion loop is a nice hike to do early in the morning like that...avoids the crowds! Nice pics.

Ah! DH, give poor Zion a break. It is at least 50 feet tall!
