S&R at Icehouse Canyon?

Saw a Search and Rescue trucks with few personels at IC parking yesterday in the wet and cold condition. Wasn't sure what going on, but they were prepared some gears to heading out.

Sierra Madre Search and Rescue was in Ice House Canyon on a three-day winter training this weekend (Saturday-Monday). We were hoping for lots of weather, but it didn't really get in until Sunday night. As always, we try to train for the worst, so the real thing is easy.
So, no real rescues that I know of. Just a bunch of us running around shouting "avalanche" and then digging up and trashing all the fluffy snow and carting a litter in circles around our campsite. There wasn't much ice for practicing self-arrests, but most of our training items worked out.
Stay safe everybody! This winter is getting serious now.
