Been thinking about the avy danger too. They're right about the gullies that lead up to the Ski Hut. I've seen a lot of debris there that looks like avy debris.

Went on a x-country ski trip to Pear Lake (Sequoia) in the way-back
There was 2' of fresh powder, on a 3-4' base, and it kept snowing for two of the three days we were there. The rangers warned us about the temperature changing: it was near 16 degrees most of the time . Said if it took a quick rise, say to 26 degrees, we should avoid the avalanche-prone slopes. Concave or convex slopes are the suspects.

By concave do you mean corniced? Or do you mean that the upper portion of the slope steepens dramatically?
