It is about darn time. I bought a new set of crampons/axe I have dying to use. And I hope the temperatures drop early in the storm before all the moisture is in NV. Praying for the worst!

Gore got the prize so I don't give a crap who they give it to now. Global effin' warming...

No snow unless southern California now has
mountains above 12k. They're saying it's a pretty warm storm

what do you mean no snow! So Cal. winters are weak enough as is. You have had your 9 months of dry, dusty, burning, and crowded wilderness now it is time to restore some peace and tranquility: Bring on the snow!

Unfortunately, no snow yet. temps only got down to about 39 degrees last night.

where did you get 39 degrees from. The Notch recorded a low of 30 with a current temp of 37. Which would have the current snow level at about 9,500 feet. There is still hope especially with the bulk of the storm coming in tonight.

I'm dragging my buddy up there tomorrow. He didn't reach the summit in 2005... now he must contend with weather!

Are we getting any snow up in the mountains by Baldy and Telegraph with this storm?
I can't wait to get out the crampons and ice axe

Nate,

It will probably give Harwood and up a dusting, but it wouldn't require crampons. Just nice and cold, with a heavy frost, if you will. Much like September of a few years ago, when we got snow on the 23-24th, and it melted in hours on the 24th.

I really hope I'm wrong, though.

Taco, you are right it was the 23 of September 2007, it rained/snowed all night Saturday night the night of the 22nd of September and the weather dipped 30 degrees during the night and that caused it to snow in September, I remember because I got up at 2 AM and Lucy and I started up the Ski Hut Trail at 3:15 AM just as the wind died down and the snow/rain stopped, this is a picture of the summit at 7:05 AM that Sunday morning as we approached the summit, no one came up for another 2 hours, the first people we saw were when we got back to the Ski Hut around 9:15, we had virgin snow and the summit all to ourselves.

Last fifty to 100 feet before the summit

Did you see me? I was camped out during the storm in the Bowl, near Piton Rock. Came up Baldy Bowl route in the morning.

I might have but I didn't know you then so I was more than likely boogieing by fast, as 2007 is when I stopped doing all the PCT sections and started getting to know other trails and people doing the local mountains.

What time did you get up the bowl that day?

Yep. Might've deleted it.

My buddy is sick, so we didn't go up today. Instead, I accidentally ruined my laptop, watched my dogs eat each other's feces, and attempted to remove a dead heater from my car. Awesome.

I spent the night on San Jacinto last night, it was snowing all the way down to Round Valley but nothing was sticking. Got back to the tram real early but absolutely no white anywhere, very disappointing!

Isn't it supposed to be 90 degrees soon or something? Santanas?
