Fritz and I had a lot of time to chat on our way up to Lone Pine last week. He agreed with many of you that the California Republik sticker was an awesome design. Unfortunately, I am out of them. So a new run is in order.
I'd like to mix up a lot of designs on one run. We are considering the following (blue are new):
o California Republik
o US flag
o Canada
o Japanese Naval ensign
o A German design, either the current flag or the Prussian flag, or maybe the Bavarian flag (there are mountains in Bavaria; beer as well)
o USSR flag
o Union Jack
o French flag
o Austrian flag
o English (Cross of St George)?
o Scottish (Cross of St Andrew)?
o Dual-use Mexican/Italian flag
o Taegeukgi flag
(that covers all the damned national flags, I think)
o A "This is my ice axe" design
o A new "Big-ass Ham" design featuring this guy:

That, and the USSR one would be great, hammer and sickle, but maybe with the hammer as a straight-shaft ice tool and the sickle as something else like a quickdraw/alpine draw or something.

It just occurred to me that a Korean flag design might be popular with a certain element commonly found in our local mountains.

Let's make it a NORTH Korean inspired design though.

Kim Jong Il, in full alpine gear, straddling a knife-edge ridge, with propaganda style text: It's Ronery At The Top

Dunno. I kind of like the Soviet one.
Wonder how Koreans would feel about the Korean one.

I'd rather have a North Korean one, and personally I'm kinda "over" the skull and crossed ice tools/axes thing.

Hahaha...that's kind of the point. Show up in Icehouse or on Baldy on a Saturday, and just stand around talking about Dear Leader.Hikin_Jim wrote: Dunno. I kind of like the Soviet one.

Ha. Too bad! I never liked the skull from the beginning, but now it's iconic.Taco wrote: I'd rather have a North Korean one, and personally I'm kinda "over" the skull and crossed ice tools/axes thing.
It's going to take time and hard work to make this guy a new icon:
