It's a tad closer to Islip (and Waterman) than Huntington Beach.

It is clearly Mount Kosciuszko, I was up there in the winter of '73 which was the summer in Australia. I almost got into a boxing match with a Red Kangaroo on the way up, which is why the memory is so clearly etched in my mind. Fortunately the summit was devoid of roos and I was able to enjoy the summit in peace. On the way down as I went through a eucalyptus forest an irascible koala screeched at me and threw some branches at me. Koalas are more grouchy then my Uncle Steven who was an incorrigible gambler and would get drunk after he lost money at Belmont and would start yelling at anyone who would listen about how he got robbed. Good memories, thanks for the photo.

It's around 7,718.32 mi from Kosciuszko as the Kookaburra flies. Waterman is technically (much) closer.

I see Triplet ridge (if you zoom in you'll see that there is a koala nearing triplet rocks) with Pine Mt. beyond. This puts you on either Kratka or Akawie. Maybe even the PCT just south of Williamson. Either way...don't approach the koala.

Finally stumped us, great we can lock this thread and go back to finding out what happened with Sean and his trail maintenance. Will the Lone Tree connector fall into Rubio Canyon or can it be saved, we'll soon find out. I have sweaty palms and not because I suffer from hyperhidrosis.

Let's get two more pictures of this spot and I'll retire the thread.

If you mean who has the most correct guesses overall, I believe I do by one point. Here are my counts:

Me: 6
Elwood: 5
HikeUp: 5
Uncle Rico: 5
Girl Hiker: 2
Tekewin: 2
Ze Hiker: 2
David R: 1
Dima: 1
JeffH: 1
Maxmapper: 1
Walker: 1

There was one instance where Elwood awarded Uncle Rico and Girl Hiker a joint victory, so they both got a point for that one. And I gave Rico the final point since he was the first to match HikeUp's photo. Thanks to everyone who participated. All good things must come to an end, and I think now is a fitting time to put this baby to rest.

I almost feel stupid asking this, but what is that section of trail that all of you seem to have pictures of? Is it the PCT between Baden-Powell and Islip somewhere?

I locked the thread. It's the 3Ts saddle between Thunder and Telegraph.
