I thought of a great question to ask him about animal poop. I hope to record it this weekend! (First I need to find some good poop....)

I found a DVD in a box of stuff I rescued from certain loss or destruction: Trails of The Angeles - Hike to Orchard Camp w/ John Robinson. It's a little on the quaint side, but I like these old-timers. I don't know if they made other episodes, but I know who to ask.

In three parts (restrictions on free YouTube) - I saved them in 720p so they look pretty good in full screen mode...

Whenever I feel bad, I watch clips like these. They always get me motivated. I can't wait to get back into driving and rallying. Few things in life can match the experience of really truly driving a car at the limit. I personally prefer rally driving for its practical application and roots. You can't drive a Formula 1 car on dirt roads in the San Gabes! (well, at least not very far I'd imagine) :-)

Here are a few of my favorite clips. Feel free to post your own favorites.

Lancia Delta Integrale rally clips. Smooth and fast driving over mixed surfaces. The sense of urgency, smoothness of transitions, and aggression is beautiful.

Walter Röhrl in an Audi S4 back in the Group B days (1980's). A great driver in the car that changed everything. Also, some nice funky music. :-)

Excellent driving by a Polish rally driver:

One of my favorite drivers, Ari Vatanen, on the Isle of Man. Incredible driving on a very narrow road. Absolute focus. Rear-wheel drive Opel, flat out.

French tarmac ace Simon Jean-Joseph, another of my favorite drivers. So smooth and fast.

Katsuhiro Ueo drifting his AE86 Corolla:

Stefan Roser - Ruf Porsche around Nurburgring. No AWD, no traction control, no bullshit just pure driving.

Mark Higgins in a CRX on the Isle of Man.

So many people get caught up on cars, and not driving. It's like the gun guys who have to hang tons of expensive accessories on their AR15's, but they can't shoot move or communicate at all. Too many people get hung up on having the newest, lightest wheels, or silly tow hooks, or other flashy bits for their car, and they completely miss the purpose of their machine: driving. It's rather sad that a capable car could be stuck living a life as some guy's commuter, covered in useless little shiny bits instead of running through the forest or mountains or on the track.

It's about the driving, not the fancy bits. This extends to most things in life.

Sweet! (i wish i had sound on here...)
makes me sad to see cars all dressed up with no place to go too :(
luckily most of my car club friends are drivers who do a lot of track-days, not just hard parking. car people who cant drive are always jerks who dont know what theyre talking about.
---You REALLY hate after-market tow hooks, lol, cracks me up how offended you get whenever we see a car with one, lolol

Deb Burgess leads a full pack train out of Sturtevant's Camp, on the way back to Chantry Flat, with the gear of some contra-dancers that had rented the camp, including the fiddle player's special stool...
