Arright, so if any of y'all are down, post up. Monday through Tuesday. We can meet somewhere in the city for carpool, already know the place but I'm not gonna post publicly for obvious reasons...
Monday morning... sound good? Camp out overnight, do whatever y'all want the next day kinda thing. Planning on going relatively light, but maybe bringing a couple beers if I can afford it.

Everything is fine, just don't feel like driving my 30 year old car up there only for it to not start. And I lack chains. And postholing sucks.

I thought all of you going to carpool to Manker ...
It doesn't look like I can't get away from work on Tuesday so I'll have to wait with the snow-fun. Hope you guys make it there alright and enjoy some major snow fall!

Monday Night: Snow. The snow could be heavy at times. Low around 29. Windy, with a south wind 35 to 40 mph decreasing to between 25 and 30 mph. Winds could gust as high as 60 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%.

It must be brutal out there!
Has anyone made it to Baldy today?

Yes. Supposed to have been very wet, without snow.

Yeah, it blew yesterday. I got soaked just on the way to the register, and from there I could see it was probably another 1500+ feet in the rain before i hit the snow level. I just bailed.
I'll try again in a day or two, after the colder fronts move in and drop the snow level.

I can confirm that. Trace yesterday, snowing pretty good right now with large flakes and 3 inches of accumualation.
Should be pretty white for awhile. 8)

Thanks for the update Bill, you guys getting any mud slides east of town from the burned areas? Be safe up there.

They have had some mud on Lone Pine Cyn Rd and it is closed right now from the 138 to Helicopter hill (snow), but no homes are affected that I'm aware of. I hiked sections of the PCT prior to snow from Cajon pass to Wrightwood, and there was considerable sluffing of the trail even w/o moisture.

Thanks Bill, that's one good long uphill hike on the PCT, it's one of the few areas from the Mexican border to the high desert where the trial goes uphill for 90% of a 20+ mile hike, it caught me by surpise when I did it years ago thinking it was no big deal (wrong), I was so glad when I found the turn to go down on the Acorn Trail.
Did the fire burn a good section of the hills along the PCT in that area? and are they going to take a beating from this series of storms? I getting that from your post?

Yes. Almost the entire section from Cajon pass up to Gobblers knob I think. I have hiked the section from McDonalds to Swarthout Canyon just below where Lone Pine intersects it since the fire. That whole ridgeline looks pretty stark although I have'nt hiked the section from Swarthout since late spring. That is a long uphill section from Cajon to Wrightwood. Kind of sneaks up on you.
