I'm trying to do my best training again for Whitney since I got my permit.

For starters, I've been hiking through Ice House Canyon to different peaks. I need to start Baldy from the village soon.

Anyways, last week I hiked to Timber mountain. I made good time to the summit.

I hiked a little beyond the summit and ate my lunch under a shady tree with fantastic views

The weather was nice. Hardly any bugs and it was cooler last week.

The water was flowing nicely and thank God for the cold mountain water from the spring. I drank most of my water and desperately needed some on my descent.

Starts 9 miles, 3400' gain

That's a nice hike. Great pictures.

The one time I was up there I surprised a bear. He ran away and within seconds was on the other side of the canyon...
