Some interesting reading on a highly sensitive subject. A lot of speculation...and drama.

Corrections (1-16-2023)
We have subsequently learned that the Gabrielino / Tongva Nation is not involved in the potential transfer of Henninger Flats. It is another organization, with ties to the Gabrielino-Tongva Band of Mission Indians. Additionally, we did not make clear that the current plan does not include construction of a casino on the Henninger Flats property. Finally, current discussions do not involve establishment of a federal tribal reservation. A follow-up article regarding what we’ve learned since the publication of The Reservation Next Door is forthcoming.
So, basically, the entire article is bullshit.

That is a good way to summarize the first article dated 1/2. The writer got it all wrong.

However...the second article dated 1/22 tries to set the record straight...but then causes additional confusion. There is clearly some disagreement between TPCC and the Gabrielino Indians as to the legitimacy of the TPCC.

To me the bottom line is positive. LA County may be interested in off-loading the Henninger Flat property along with the existing facilities and campground. And the small TTPC non-profit is being considered as a potential new owner. To what extent is unclear. The Henninger Flats area has been terribly neglected for years now. Facilities are closed and so are the multiple campgrounds. I think it's positive for someone else to take over and realize the potential of this historical area.

If it's true that TTPC are woke "pretendians," then I hope the County tells them to go pound sand.

The zoning would stop them dead in their tracks....they can give it to whomever they want.

Just an FYI:
I took a group hiking past Henninger Flats on Jan 24th, the lookout tower was taken down. They also removed the sign.
Why? I don't know.
