A long time ago I scraped all the plat maps I could get from the county DPW site. In case that ever disappears I'm attaching all of these to this post. These have the really old mining claims and are medium-useful in actually finding stuff, but are interesting to look at. Other areas of the DPW and the general county GIS site have even more stuff if you poke around.
And the reason I'm actually posting this: does anybody know how to read the coordinates off these? I can do it by matching up landmarks or section boundary lines, but that's crude. If I'm looking at the "Next Best Placer" claim on page 6 of "T 3 N R 08 W.pdf" then I know it's around the Iron Fork junction. Similar when looking for Jumbo placers on page 13. It's also around the section 16/17 boundary. How does one do better?
