A friend and I had planned a hike to Gobbler’s Knob but were thwarted by closures in the area. We visited the Lytle Creek Ranger Station to get details and I wanted to pass them on here. We were told that the closures were caused by forest road issues following a fire near Gobbler’s Knob and the recent winter storms. Crews are working to clear and regrade the roads, which are gradually re-opening.
Here’s a map I made that shows all the closures as of May 8. The roads highlighted in red are closed to vehicle and foot traffic, but the PCT is fully open through that area.
