I spent four lovely days in Death Valley. Trip reports to follow. Anyways, I visitied Darwin Falls and found quite a few Chuckwallas hanging out on the trail. I did find a strange creature that i believe is a Gila monster but I am not sure. I checked Google but i cant get a good close up of the type of scales it has. Does anyone know?
Thanks in advance.

It looks more like a Western Fence lizard. Death Valley is outside the current range of the Gila Monster.

Yellow-backed Spiny Lizards are not a joke, they are tired of being disrespected! Yes they would prefer a less obvious name but its what they got and they have learned to live with it. I am sure once the woke group finds about it, it will have to be changed but for now, that is their name. Yellow Spiny Lizard Power!

The tail looks wrong for a yellow-backed spiny. I think it is a zebra lizard
