I hiked to Round Top on Saturday. It was my first trip to the ANF since the Bobcat Fire began and my first hike in the Pacifico Mountain area in a long time. I forgot that it's hunting season, but I saw more trucks from parked hunters than hunters themselves. There are more annoying people that can be found in the ANF...
Per HPS route 1, the hike is 12.6 miles from Mill Creek Summit Station. I've hiked on 3N17.4 (Pacifico Mountain Road) twice before, and it's not particularly fun, so I was hoping that the gate was open so I could drive to the junction with 3N90 (Round Top Truck Road) and hike from there. I was in luck: the gate was open.
I parked at the turnout at the junction and hiked south on 3N90, an easy walk with great views.

Round Top
Truly an awesome axe. I would've packed that out (if possible) and then posted the photo on the "Now It's Mine!" thread...

You're right. I looked more closely at the picture and it has R.F.D. painted on the head. I would've taken a photo of me carrying it for the "Now it's Mine!" thread but then returned it to the Riverside Fire Dept, who surely must be the owner, unless it was too heavy to carry and/or too far to carry it. Besides, I already own a fireman's axe - I found it hidden up in the attic when I bought my house years ago. Don't really need another one, since I've never used the first one...
