Who Was Thomas W. Sloan?

Hi all, just curious if anyone knows any interesting facts about Tom Sloan, aka Thomas W. Sloan. The only thing I could find follows:

In Trails of the Angeles John Robinson mentions that Tom Sloan Saddle is named after a former district ranger. There’s a quotation from the Arcadia Tribune (1918) on the Forest Lookouts page for Los Angeles County regarding Arcadia Station that refers to “Thomas W. Sloan, chief ranger in the United States Forest Service in this district…”

I think that is it, he was a district ranger, most rangers aren't that exciting. Night Ranger on the other hand is great to listen to especially if you're watching Boogie Nights.

Tom Sloan was a respected forest ranger. In 1911 he was sent to lead volunteers against a backcountry fire north of Baldy.

In 1913 he became the chief ranger of the ANF western division.

Throughout his career he supervised different forests in Southern California, including the Cleveland Forest, Angeles Forest and the Santa Barbara Forest. He was called "the king of forest fire fighters."
