Well, it's the last weekend of Icehouse Canyon Month. I'm going to try for Sugarloaf again and maybe work some ridges I haven't been on in awhile. If you're in the area and have a radio and signal mirror, call me on Ch 4-Code 4 and perhaps we can trade signal flashes.

I bought some walkies (finally). 16 mile range (allegedly). I should buy a little mirror and signal you from the Bear Canyon Trail!

dude I didn't know you had so many people planned to go on bear canyon. I just thought it was you and THE girlfriend or a few others. Just try to be in the front all the way this hike at least. 8)

Look for smoke signals. Then, use binoculars and watch as I attempt to put them out with my feet, then my body, then I just run away.

What ridges are you lookin' at?

Sweet! Once I determine your position I'll send over some mortar fire to slow you down

Nothing special, Taco. If I can get to Sugarloaf, I'll take the ridge up to Ontario. Then maybe go west along that ridge to the very end.

Cool beans. That ridge has great views. I believe that trail is easier to follow up than down.

Ok. Well it sounds like you are the responsible person, hike leader on these hikes. I don't know the rules on that stuff. The best I can suggest at this point is to simulate hiking alone. Maybe you could deputize someone as leader and hike far enough ahead of the group to where you out of ear shot of normal talking but within someone screaming. HEY WAIT A MINUTE, YOU GOT THOSE WALKIE TALKIES!!!!!!!!! THAT'S IT. Just get a ways in front and maintain that the whole way. Far enough ahead that you feel you are alone.
