Water at: Dorr Canyon? S Fork Big Rock Creek? Holcomb Canyon? Reed Spring? Lamel Spring?

I'm thinking of taking a hike on the Manzanita Trail from Vincent Gap to S. Fork Big Rock Creek and Holcomb Canyon, then up to Islip Saddle, then along the PCT back to Vincent Gap.

Anyone got any beta on water at:

Dorr Canyon?
S Fork Big Rock Creek?
Holcomb Canyon?
Reed Spring?
Lamel Spring?

Little Jimmy Spring is always solid, so I'm not worried about that one.

I believe S. Fork BRC has year-round water. Very health looking creek when I was there in December, well before most of our rains

Post Trip, here's the status of water sources en route:

Canyon above Icy Springs -- water, good flow
Dorr Canyon -- dry
Any and all creeks on the north flanks of Mt. Lewis -- dry
S Fork Big Rock Creek -- water, excellent flow
Holcomb Creek -- good flow
Reed Spring -- decent flow
Little Jimmy Spring -- good flow
Lamel Spring -- flowing, but not much (which is normal for Lamel Spring). Bring something to scoop with.

And I would recommend something to filter with when using Lamel Spring. That place gets too much use for me and I'm very tolerant with water sources.

I think I'd agree. Some springs you can collect water before it hits the ground or pools. Not so with Lamel. You have to take it from the pool that the spring bubbles up into which is easily contaminated.
