Chances of scoring a campground at Horse Flats
There's a group of us headed for Horse Flats Friday. What are the chances we'll score a few sites? Has that place become popular lately? I use to go several years back and it was always a reliable bet because it had no water, but i haven't been there lately. For all I know, there's a 2 hour Joshua Tree conga line just to get in the gate now hell I dont know. I havent been on this forum in a while, so now I return just to use you guys for your information, sorry about that. Maybe I'll post a trip report soon.
The FS has been posting updates on their FB page. Last Friday at 5:30pm Horse Flats was 1/4 full. By Saturday evening it was completely full. So you might have good luck on Friday. Whenever I'm up there hiking, it's usually a Saturday or Sunday, and the place is packed.
