Photos: Cucamonga & Etiwanda Peaks - Oct. 12th, 2007
Hit the trail with TacoDelRio and my GF yesterday.
Saw a bear rummaging around Icehouse Canyon parking lot at 6:15AM, looking to fatten-up before hybernation .
Too dark for pix ..
Entering the Cucamonga Wilderness Area
Above Icehouse Saddle on the way up
GF taking a Siesta while Taco and I explore the area around the old mine
Taco looking for bears ..
Always ready for a climb
View of Bighorn Saddle (name?) on our way up to Cucamonga Peak
Burn area overlooking Ontario Peak in the distance
GF having fun inside a hollow tree on the path up
View of Ontario Peak while working on up Cucamonga Peak
Lunchbreak near the Summit
Field ingenuity at it's best

Good TR, HE!
I really do suggest that anyone cooking ramen should add some sake. A large amount for those of us who are immune to it (very not an advantage).
Sho Chiku Bai Ginjo Sake (I don't like it, so it works great in cooking).
Great pics bro.

That was the best we've ever eaten in the mountains!
One of my more realistic goals for stupid things to do on Baldy is to make sushi up there. Focusing on unagi (favorite, sea eel) and hand-rolls. Gonna be tricky, gotta make the rice before I leave, package it, and reheat on the summit or some junk without it becoming not-sticky.
Dunno when, preferably on a warm-ish winter day (cold = good for raw fish), definitely a cool day. BYOB or sake. 8)
(I can't digest power/Clif bars very well)

I understand that they've been considering Powerbars as a replacement for the ablative tiles on the space shuttle.TacoDelRio wrote:I can't digest power/Clif bars very well
And you have problems digesting such an appetizing meal? What's up with that?TacoDelRio wrote:Gotta keep them in your ... crotch to warm them up.
