Last weekend we decided to try and hike Upper Big Tujunga. It's a 3-mile thru hike starting from Big Tujunga Road Bridge to the Colby day-use area. Although we couldn't find any current trip reports of anyone having recently hiked Upper Big Tujunga besides Christopher E. Brennen's 16-year old report (http://www.dankat.com/advents/tjunga.htm), we still decided to attempt this adventure.

This was our view 90% of the time:

We turned around from not being able to clear the "airy" trail climb. (full details on my blog). Pretty much sketchy as hell.

On the way back we took a "short-cut" up from under the Narrows Bridge, a headache of a class-4 climb. I'd still recommend visiting the first falls for a swim though, it was surreal!

Nice trip. Looks like a big day and some nice falls in the canyon. I had to look at a map to figure out where you were.
